Are black women who use skin lightening products for turning their backs on their color?

One of my friends is black and has started using the cream for Rinse skin to make your skin shiny. As women of mixed race I never really considered using the products myself, but my friend says that many women get black stick for use as other black women feel very strongly that black women must take their color and beauty, whatever the shade it is. I think this is a subject really interesting and wondered why some black women want to lighten their skin and why other black women are offended by this.

Each one's own. For me it is different from a "hardened target" person or someone of that style or hair color. If she feels that would be better, more power to her.
