The fact that this breed of cat has blue eyes and very recognizable color layer is not point accident or a result of evolution.
If we believe that the breeder, Ann Baker, the original Ragdoll cats were the result of a new experiment in government 1960s. It seems that one of the cats of her neighbor Josephine, got into an accident with a car, and for some reason was taken to a laboratory at the University of California. There was nothing special about Josephine. She was a pedigree Persian / Angora mix, white cat with long hair, which by that time already had multiple owners litters, which were nothing special. Sired by several unidentified Burma as cats, one of which the color point Siamese, their offspring generally tend to be playful aggressive.

The next litter following surgery however, produced a litter of
unusually docile and friendly cats. Ms. Baker stated that it was part of a secret government genetic experiment. Genetic experts have rejected this theory and, of course, the Government denied any such project. Nevertheless, Josephine later when trash produced over the rag doll "," type kittens, Baker knew he was onto something. The name "Ragdoll" was coined by these original kittens, and all who have followed, have a tendency to go weak and completely relaxed when being picked up. Already an expert breeder of Ms. Baker thought he was in something new and wonderful, she bought several of the kittens and it proposed to create a new race known as the Ragdoll cat.

In a brilliant move the Mrs. Baker rejected the established cat registration, registered on behalf of Ragdoll and began its own secretariat, the International Association of cat Ragdoll (IRCA) in 1971. Their strict guidelines for breeding led several riffs within the organization, until 1975, Denny and Laura Dayton, began to cultivate what is now widely accepted as a rule to the days Ragdoll. IRCA dissipated in recent years, and after Baker's death in 1997 there were other factions that eventually brought us the line indigent.
