Andy Collins was born in 1971 in Atlanta, Georgia. He did BFA, Atlanta College of Art, Atlanta, Georgia in 1994 and MFA, School of Visual Arts, New York in 1999. Andy Collins paintings are juicy synthetic. Cold and bright, their large pastel fabrics sultry glamorous empty. Working from fashion images, abstract forms of Collins stem from overlooked in the spaces between supermodel margins. The folds in the fabric, the folds at the elbows, knees and armpits become a model fetishistic contemplation. Their outlines suggested ways turned and embellished, creating ethereal reasons that are organic and electric. Process Collins is one of almost perverse fixation. Taking several months to complete a painting, carefully constructed form without air entirely by hand, without a trace of the stroke. In Untitled, biomorphic composition, vacuum sublime beauty, love both the seduction and emptiness.
Andy Collins's paintings glow with a transcendent eroticism, achieve a state of consciousness that courts cerebral enlightenment physical sensuality. Inspired by the lust for fashion ads, performs title of the composition of desire remains a persistent Rorschach-like distortion, a mandala of seduction and absence.
