Duane Allman has been dead since 1971, but their influence on the life of the guitar players. The story of Duane Allman is doing what it does to the best of their ability in all circumstances. There are many recordings of classic rock songs that have Allman as a session musician and it seems that their contribution helped make these immortal tracks.

Of all Duane Allman's guitar work of other artists, the best known is his playing on Layla by Derek and the Dominoes. Eric Clapton took the opportunity to get Duane in the studio with him when he was due to record Layla. Meanwhile, Allman just wanted to witness a meeting Recording Clapton, Eric, but insisted there would be a role for some Duane Allman's guitar playing on this album. Allman never followed up on its contribution to Eric Clapton's band on tour with them, but was able to appear in some of his concerts.

It is part of the rock guitar of Duane Allman folklore that he learned to play slide guitar when he was in bed with the flu. I was listening to an album of Taj Mahal and decided she wanted to learn to play Statesboro Blues by Blind Willie McTell. Not having a regulate the use slide guitar, he emptied the bottle of Coricidin at his bedside, took off the label and started his career as a guitar slide. Statesboro Blues became part of Playlist The Allman Brothers Band and the pill bottle became the permanent Allman slide guitar, as for many other guitarists.

First work of Duane Allman as a session guitarist was Wilson Pickett's Hey Jude. His work on this was what led him the attention of Eric Clapton and so became a session musician at the demand of popular artists of the era, such as Clarence Carter, King Curtis, Aretha Franklin, Otis Rush, Percy Sledge, Johnny Jenkins, Boz Scaggs. The Allman Brothers Band Duane gave another outlet for their creativity without the constraints of playing for another artist. Duane Allman died shortly after the band's third album, went gold. The band continues playing until today.
