The online world has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. This provides the public with some incredible resources - the ability to access information with the touch of a finger, the ability to communicate through rapid, inexpensive methods, and increased functionality and ease of use are being introduced every day. Unfortunately, as with all good things, there is also a dark side.
While there are plenty of people using the Internet and computers responsibly and honestly, there are predators and hackers out there that spoil the fun for everyone, whether their dirty acts of control. There are plenty of ways for these people to put endanger your computer and your network. Here we review some of the ways in which the network can be compromised.
Two destructive nets infringements relate to a category known as "destructive behavior". One involves the complete disappearance of the data within your network. It's called "data destruction and is just what it sounds like. This occurs when someone breaches of its network and delete data. If the network is related to the company, this can be devastating. Experts say that is no less destructive than a fire that destroys your computer.
Some of the authors are more than simple destruction in mind. They do what is called "misleading information" which means that corrupt data on your system. They can change the data in spreadsheets or other documents, or they may interfere with their accounting system. Some examples of things that have happened really affect the accounting system in particular. Hackers have broken into a network, accessed the system accounting, and changed the account numbers of checks to direct deposit into their own accounts. Robbery as it will take some time to track - Firstly that the employee is not paid, the research must be done, and someone has to think to check the account information for direct deposit. In some cases, companies have reduce paper checks again and that took months to recover funds lost.
Another way in which networks are vulnerable is in the field of confidentiality. Many times, companies have information that, if shared with a competitor, can be very bad for business. In this case, predators are not looking alter or destroy data, they are simply trying to find the information they are not supposed to know. If someone were to discover the financial performance information before a public release of such information could adversely affect the population. If a company is planning to launch a new product and someone gets that information and given to a competitor, or leakage of information to the public, which could hurt sales of the company. Even more alarming is the possibility someone last minute to see confidential data on employees - including addresses, social security numbers and bank account information.
All these network attacks occur because external users are able to gain unauthorized access to a network. To access the information, the data to change or delete data, the attacker gains access to a network and is capable of executing unlawful orders - Whether at the normal user or administrator level. Both are bad, but luckily both can avoided by taking these threats seriously and develop appropriate policies regarding the security of your network.
