How do I get thick enough ingredients in homemade ice cream?

We bought a nice, Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and have been unable still get the ingredients in thick enough for ice cream! We followed the directions, freezing the bowl, but when we got to celebrate the twentieth minute, yet is not even close to being thick! Does anyone else have this problem? Thank you!

With the traditional home made ice cream freezers, The procedure is known as "packaging" - after the ice has begun to thicken, the freezer is filled with ice and salt and allowed to strike a difficult freeze for a while. With the Cuisinart unit, may try to stop after 20 minutes, place the container in the freezer for half hour or so, and then try that for consistency. The freezing process with the previous agitation allows air to be worked into the mix, which causes the ice to freeze in smaller, softer crystals. Then, when the Pre-Mix comes frozen in the freezer for packaging, does not freeze into a hard mass of ice.
