Baden Powell was one of the leading figures of Bossa Nova Brazilian language. His music was enjoyed by everyone, and their collaboration with poet Vinicius de Moraes and interpretations of the works of other composers ensure Baden Powell a place among the masters of Latin music. Many famous Bossa Nova songs were co-written by Baden Powell include Samba Pintinho, Quaquaraquaqua, Fim de Linha, Valse No. 1, Samba Triste, Tempo Feliz, City Vazia, Babel and Casa Velha. His songs written with Vinicius de Moraes include Para uma Menina com uma Flor and Samba da Bênção that were included on the soundtrack to the 1966 winner of the Cannes Film Festival, a man and a woman.

The middle years of the twentieth century was the century of Brazilian dance music known as Bossa Nova to take the world by storm. This is basically the Brazilian samba musically informed by the chords and harmonies of American jazz. Bossa Nova, which means "new trend" in Brazil is considered by many owe their existence Antonio Carlos Jobim, who had an overwhelming love of jazz.
