How can you love God when it requires that fear him?

For me, the basis of love is not fear and threats. Of the ten commandments, the most they are to fear and worship him. 5 You shall not bow down to them nor serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity parent, the third and fourth generation of those who reject me. So, this unconditional love, it comes with a condition ... 6 and have mercy for thousands generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments.

In the Torah, the language is always strong when nothing to do with idolatry is mentioned. Stories themselves (and later prophetic writings) show how difficult it was for people to leave their old ways - practices that have arisen in the generations to believe were necessary for their own welfare and survival of their group.
