What instrument should I learn to play first?

I have always wanted to play a musical instrument. When I was young I used to be interested in learning to play the trumpet, but I'm not really interested in that any more. I have wanted to learn to play the guitar for many years. And just in the last year I've found an interest in learning to play the drums and the djembe drum. Space and noise are considerations (I live in an apartment) so I'm not really interested in an entire drum set. But something like a snare drum and I have read that you can buy a pad to cut down on the noise. Also my neighbors don't really care about moderate noise during reasonable hours. We have lousy sound proofing so we are all pretty understanding.
