How can you download stuff on your BlackBerry Pearl?

I have a BlackBerry Pearl and a 8GB micro SD card in it. When I download stuff using the transmission Writing on the BlackBerry Pearl that is not on the phone after disconnecting it. Do I have to format the memory card somehow and stuff then I can download about it with the desktop manager. Or is there another way to make things easier on my BlackBerry Pearl. If not can you please guide me with step step instructions on how to do.

It's not very often you need to format SD cards, and usually always come with formatting and everything. Just to make sure you can format it anyway. To do this go to Settings> Advanced Options> Media Card. Then click the Blackberry / Menu button and select Format Card. Do not worry about using the Desktop Manager software - this only complicates a simple task. Instead connect the Blackberry on your computer and your Blackberry will prompt you to activate mass storage, click Yes On your PC go to My Computer and Devices with Removable Storage, will a unit that is your media card. Double click this and then move you download the appropriate folders (music, video, etc)
