The Office of Cultural Affairs, Government of the Macao SAR presents 22 International Music Festival Macau (MIMF) from October 5 to November 2, 2008.

The International Music Festival of Macau, for decades, has been bringing internationally renowned artists of Macau. Every year, performances in the Macao International Music Festival are the highest level and offer a delicate balance of Eastern and Western forms of music. Along with the promotion of tradition and culture of Macao, the Macao International Music Festival seeks to expose the communities in Macau to diverse musical forms, and in the process of enriching Macao's cultural experience. This year the focus is on the opera, symphonic, choral and chamber music and contemporary folk, pop and jazz.

On 22 International Music Festival will see none other than Macao British National Orchestra of Spain - The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra gives the opening performance. This is his first action in the International Music Festival of Macau, and will be conducted by Principal Guest Leonard Slotkin. (5 / 10, the Macau Cultural Center Grand Auditorium, 8pm). Of course it is known that since its creation by Sir Thomas Beecham, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra has been known under his leadership and vision, to provide some of the greatest compositions of the music world has ever heard.

The International Festival Music of Macau will also see the performance of the Symphony Orchestra of Canada's third largest - The Grammy Award winner (2008) Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, led by its music director, the British conductor Bramwell Tovey. (14/10, MCC-GA, 8pm) Along with this orchestra is that of 28 years, Grammy Award winning violinist Hilary Hahn. Hilary Hahn, today, is one of the most sought after and renowned performers in the concert circuit.

The International Festival Macau Music promises to be more colorful and louder than ever with over seventeen different artists performing across genres as diverse as traditional classical, pop, jazz and opera in various countries including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Hungary, Portugal, USA, Canada, Australia and mainland China.
