Some say the only difference between rhythm and blues (R & B) and the gospel is the gospel song "Oh Lord", while the pace Blues and soul music singing "Oh Baby". Gospel music was the key principles of soul music, however, is not only the root which makes R & B, which is today.

R & B, soul came to life as its own genre in the 50s. Although its origin may have started around the North American cities like Chicago it was not long before other cities followed suit, as Memphis, Detroit, New York, Florence, and Philadelphia.

Many artists over the years helped develop what is known as R & B, soul as an artist like Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Luther Vandrose, James Brown, Isaac Hayes and to name a few.

Soul origin came from the influence of gospel music and traditional R & B sounds. Sound R & B, Memphis soul was more influenced by the combination of gospel in cities like Memphis, it was rhythm and blues soul of Detroit, who came to become the smooth, polished sound of Motown artists like Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, and Marvin Gaye.

If I had to pick the top ten all time best artists R & B, Soul One would be hard to limit the list to ten. You could take into account the contributions of artists in the music industry, however, most R & B have contributed in one way or another.

The first top soul artists would have to include Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, Sam Cooke and Elvis. Then as the soul music took a bit more pace to it and is best known for the Motown / Soul in the late 60's and 70's that should be added the names artists like Nina Simone, Jackie Wilson, Etta James, Ray Charles, Little Richard, and James Brown.

However, that leaves out a lot of influence R & B, soul artists who have contributed so much to the sound that still exist of soul music that is rare in May soundtracks more current artists of today as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Al Green, Gladys Knight, Chaka Khan, Brian McKnight, Kenny G, and R. Kelly. The list could continue indefinitely, as I am sure many of you know. That's not even mention the artist's soul groups that helped keep the love alive. There is some good old soul music that never leave you weird, and always want more.
