How do I prevent my cat meowing all night?
We moved into a new apartment a few days ago. One of my cats yowls all night - a meow strong after another. She is quiet during the day. It has the same toys, food, blankets, as always. She is eating and drinking well and use their litter box. If I put in another room, she becomes stronger and claws at the door. If I listened, she becomes stronger. She has been meowing as she is losing her voice! I have not slept in 2 nights and I really need some ideas please! Yes, she is spayed. We have spent 4 times before and have never had this problem - even in homes with other animals household.
It seems that is definitely an anxiety-related behavior. I've heard of cats being upset for months after a stroke. Some hide under the bed, and yours is obviously trying to share their pain with you by vocalizing. My parents' cat is so sensitive to their environment that realizes that my mother has moved a lamp in the living room - freezes when entering the room, and then directly through smell and examine the new situation. So having the blankets and bowls it will help, but do not trick your cat. You may want to talk to a vet to see if there is anything you can do for your cat. Also, try to some of the different types of earplugs so you can get to sleep.
